Hi and welcome to the Model Shed, where I build just about any kind of plastic model kit as long as it sparks my interest.
I hope you find something here of interest whatever you like to build yourself: cars, aircraft, armour, ships and even space and sci-fi. Many of the techniques are common to many subjects, and some are particular to one or more, but whatever your subject preference or level of experience there is something we can all learn to make our next creation just that little bit better.
I've built models all my life so I hope I can pass on just one or two tips along the way to help you with your own model building. I always respond to questions through the channel so if you want to know how something is done in more detail or want to see any particular projects in the future, just post a comment and I'll get right back to you.
Happy modelling!
Steve

Looks cool. 👍
Perfect 👍
It is absolutely amazing what is being done with 3D printing today. Those landing gear are beautiful, and if I remember correctly, will be extremely visible on the subject due to it's stance. Once again, beautiful work as usual, and eagerly awaiting the next update!
I know it took a lot longer than it appears in the video, but wow, it really seemed like the build progressed extremely quickly!! Airfix is REALLY progressing beautifully! I am really loving these new issues. It does appear they got the cockpit dimensions off a bit though, I think the pilot would have to be 8 foot tall to reach the rudder pedals! Beautiful work as usual though, really looking forward to the next update!!
Nice work Steve, as per usual looking good.
I've never built a kit this large, it is an amazing build. I'd planned to get a 1/48 kit and make in the " desert pink" scheme. I'm holding out on that acquisition until you finish this build, a lot of work and looking well.
Brilliant work I agree Idid the same manuf at 1/72 scale and that was nor=t tiny
I'm interested to see how you're going to flatten out those deep panel lines. Great work Steve.
Great work Steve, the detailed gear bays and legs look great, as does the cockpit.
Looking great Steve! coming along well. cheers.
Love your work Steve. Check your references on the colour of the landing gear and bays. Back in the day they were painted gloss white. Just for your consideration.
+1
Another great episode Steve! Thanks for sharing
Hi Steve, this is some really excellent work on such a great aircraft, the dear legs looks absolutely perfect, did you ever read the book by John Nicholls, regards his tkme on the Tornado and his capture during the First Gulf War? A very good read, looking forward to the next update soon, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
My goodness Steve those 3D printed main legs are a delight too behold, they have even included the three walking joints on the drag brace! The “hydraulic lines” that you removed and replaced with .4mm were on the real thing arranged so neatly as to look like a work of art when fitted, btw the italeri undercarriage bays are by far and away the most accurate representations of the real thing “ and that includes any aftermarket resin examples” the wheels would actually fit in the italeri model. The main legs and drag brace were always supplied as gloss white. As always your work looks fantastic and I hope whatever info I supply can be helpful.
Fantastic work as ever 👍
Looking great
Amazing attention to detail in the landing gear Steve. Thanks again for answering my question.
Superb work mate 👍
Looks really nice!
Really nice kit😊
Stunning details. Looks like the real thing. Looking forward to the next episode.🙂
Amazing ship sir! Very very nice 👍🏻👍🏻
Very satisfying seeing a master at work! Looking forward to the finished project.
Top stuff as always.
This is going to look awesome when finished 👍💞💞💞🍺🍺🍺
Being waiting for this great build and vid 🙏💪👍💞🍺
Those gear struts are nice pieces. Build is looking good.
Look forward to it.
Hi Steve, Mate what's the dry brush you use, it looks great?
Amazing job! I got one in my stash and will use your vid to help me when I build it!
A nice start to this kit. The Bulldog was a nice airplane in it's day. I was curious, are you going to tackle the ICM 1/32 Gloster Gladiator some day? Would love to see you build that awesome kit.
Superb as always lovely neat work 👌 👍
Hello Steve, I see that you are using wire to rig this plane, when other online builders use, or used EZ Line. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I think I remember you using EZ Line to rig your Hood and Bismarck. Reports are that EZ Line deteriorates quite quickly and crumbles. Do you have an opinion?
I’ve had no problems with the elastic line Finlay but it was van der rosten thread not EZ. not sure if there’s much difference except the VDR is better quality being smoother. I’m using wire because it’s easier to use in this scale
Amazing job she looks perfect great build and painting 👍🍺💪💞🙏
thanks eddy
have to agreed with cdickinson 9798 your videos are very easy to watch and a modelling education great work on cockpit
Cheers Mick
I find the Bristol Bulldog a n interesting aircraft and from the looks of it Airfix has captured that look very well indeed. I am also glad to see the plastic they use for their kits is a bit more 'robust' than earlier kits. One further question, will you be continuing on with your aircraft of the Aces series at some point? Keep up the excellent work.
Hi yes I’ve got a Yak 1 and a spitfire underway for the aces series in the next couple of months
Lovely fit and details, wish it was 1/32 scale, to better enjoy those features but I’m certainly tempted to get one. 😊
A few have said that though I’m happy enough with it in 1/48. Thise 1/32 models eat up the display space.
@@TheModelShed that is true. Space is always a premium. 😁
Hello. I've been watching your amazing videos. Where do you sell your pieces of art? I noticed a few videos back that the Bismarck and Hood were going to be sold. Where can these sales be seen? Many thanks
Hi - the Bismarck is here:www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196300837911 and the Hood can be sold privately directly through private message here.
Hi Steve, this build is coming along very nicely, glad to see Airfix are bringing out kits the no other manufacturers are doing, looking forward to the next update, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Cheers Les
Great start on the Bulldog Steve! Looking good. Do you happen to know what make and grade of the resin that was used? It looks like ABS to me, but not the nice ductile ABS that Tamiya use. Hmm... Cheers!
It is a bit reminiscent of abs David. I spoke to the guys from Airfix at Telford last year about the gannet and they said the new harder plastic had helped with the crisp surface detail on the new productions
Thank you, sir, for your outstanding video productions. Not only are you highly skilled and vastly experienced, but your commentary is so wisely measured that it is a true pleasure to watch AND listen. Thank you for not feeling like you have to play music. I prefer the sounds of the building, the birds coming in through your window, and the occasional rain shower. I look forward to the videos more than any of the other builders.
Thank you for the feedback I’m happy you like the production. I try to keep things simple and calm I think that’s the way to build models.
I do wish Airfix would build this in a larger scale
1/32 would be good but I don’t think there’s much chance of that 🙁
I received mine last week so I look forward to watching this build eagerly. It also makes me want to dig out my Airfix /48 Fury to park alongside it.
It would be nice if they updated the fury and did a few more inter war RAF types
I still have the 1//72 version of this model and by all accounts that is a beautiful kit. when this was announced I was very tempted to break away from my rule of 1/72nd scale only. Now seeing it being made I'm even more tempted, let's just say I have a thing for bi-planes, the very first kit I made was the old Airfix Albatros D.V, and when I returned to modeling I had the same lit in my stash so that's where i started again, I still have a red boxed one still in the stash. I must say this Bull-Fog does look very very tempting, I just wonder how long it will take to reach Cape Town. Thanks for the video and I'll keep an eye out for part 2.
Hope it gets to you soon it’s a nice kit going together well
Mixed up the names I meant Revell contacta.
That’s ok I knew what you meant 👍
Hi Steve, Always enjoy your videos. Looks like a fun kit. How do you keep the nozzle on the testers professional glue from getting bound up? I like the glue but have a problem when I go to use it. Thanks
Hi Joseph It is a problem with Contacta pro - I keep a piece of 0.3 copper wire in the applicator tube when not in use. put a loop in at the end so you can pull it out easy.
Thank you!I will try that.
Hi Steve, I have never built a traditional biplane, so will be watching with interest how you tackle it ,l do like your methods, and have learnt a lot from your videos ,will be getting one for the stash if i see it in my local model shop, Thanks for the great videos .
Thanks very much Colin hope you try one it’s a nice kit
I'm excited to see part 2. As always its a great learning experience.
Thanks David
This looks a really beautiful build 👍🍺💞🙏
nice so far thanks eddy
Nice kit. I have just received mine and am looking forward to seeing your build.
It’s going together well so far Chris and I test fitted the struts today and they’re a nice positive fit. hopefully they’ll not give any problems 🤞
